Most manufacturers of household water filters have borrowed water purification technologies from industrial systems. Such scaling leads to several imperfections: these filters either purify water less effectively or become unusable more quickly.

Aquaphor initially focused on developing household filters. The technologies were developed in-house for specific types of filters and the peculiarities of tap water. Each innovation is patented, and by 2019, the number of patents reached 130.
